Hospitality group Life House launched their inaugural property in Little Havana, Miami earlier this year. The building was constructed in the 1920s and fuses elements of Art Deco with a Mission Style whilst parading a hip three-storey atrium portrait gallery. In the heart of the Cuban Quarter, the property houses 33 rooms and suites which range from 140 to 275 square feet. Life House is currently the only Design Hotels™ member operating in the Miami market with a 2nd hotel opening in November 2019 (Life House South of Fifth).

The dedicated gallery space honours Cuban artist Leandro Feal and the cultural roots of the area have been considered throughout the planning process. Sympathetic to the tone and manner of neighbouring houses, the hotel chose a dusty peach colour when painting the Mission Style façade.
With the Latin community close to its heart, the hotel’s lobby has been designed like a living room whilst the library is welcoming and the atrium gallery delivers a narrative for Little Havana’s artistic identity. Despite all this nostalgia, the Life House group have a clear tech-savvy approach so the hotel is future proof. Their social media app facilitates guest engagement from the moment of booking and this network forms part of a fully-integrated system that allows guests to book direct, whether for groups or individuals, including tablet check-ins on arrival.
As you would expect, the hotel’s kitchen utilises the best of Cuban flavours with a clear nod towards vegetarian dishes and a rooftop garden provides seasonal vegetables all year round. Interiors enjoy natural woods alongside guava pink and rich jade and simple cream lines and the striking monochrome-checked floors pay homage to a typical Havana mansion. Throughout the property, Art Deco details have been salvaged from the original structure.
The chic bedrooms come in various sizes with the Modern Double room and the Bohemian Suite both over 200 square feet, come with sitting areas. The grand 275-square-foot King Suites includes a living area and overlooks the iconic Miami skyline. All rooms feature a rain shower with bathroom products from Le Labo and a cool Marshall Bluetooth speaker.
